The Bowen Grows Community Feast is an annual community-wide harvest celebration for all ages and demographics. Together with the Community School Association(CSA), Bowen Agricultural Association(BAA), and an amazing team of community volunteers, we are able to host a events that not only showcases our wide variety of locally grown food, but gives the greater Bowen community a chance to come and share a meal together.
The format of the dinner changes from year to year, giving the community a chance to participate in different ways. In past years, we've hosted the Feast as a potluck, with 150+ people in attendance and an incredibly diverse amount of dishes highlighting local ingredients, as well as a 200 + attendance meal with 17 different menu items cooked by myself and a team of community volunteers.
The 2017 Bowen Grows Community Feast was a family movie and picnic held on October 6th, with complimentary appetizers made with BowenGrown ingredients.
The Bowen Grows Community Feast is held in the Bowen Community School gym around the end of September/early October of each year. Info for upcoming Community Feasts can be found on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/BowenGrowsProject/
